For the first time in a very long time, the Movieing On team sits down in front of a duck-themed movie that is not perverted. A cartoon that is not about overly sexualized cats. Please don't mention how it was Breki that picked both Howard the Duck and Fritz The Cat and how we required the youth and innocence of Linnea to get a movie like this to the show... Once upon a time, there was a movie. It didn't do very well, but people remembered it fondly, so they made a sequel. It was pretty bad. So they made another sequel, and it was also pretty bad. People looked upon the faces of the sequels and realized that the original movie was actually really pretty damned good - at least in comparison - and so a cult movie was born. This week, the Movieing On team sits down to watch Highlander, the 1986 original starring Christopher Lambert with a not very convincing Scottish accent starring opposite Sean Connery with a not very convincing Spanish accent in a not very convincing movie about people who cannot die. ... The Man Who Would Be King (1888) is a short story by Rudyard Kipling. It is about two British adventurers in British India who become kings of Kafiristan, a remote part of Afghanistan. It's also a movie starring Sean Connery and Michael Caine. We decided to watch the movie even though reading the short story would have been quicker. We're strange in that way. It was one of the movies that got Luc Besson the attention that he was going to be enjoying in the future. One would have thought that the richest kid in the world would have afforded a better acting coach, but there you go. Here's the 1994 movie where Kevin from Home Alone gets help from Joseph Goebbels (no, really!) as they try to out-wit Maltz from Star Trek III: The Search for Spock.
