Steve Jackson Games recently announced a Smash Up expansion featuring Munchkin, and since we have no idea what Smash Up is about, we sit down to play the game from AEG. The "shufflebuilding" game Smash Up starts with a simple premise: Take the twenty-card decks of two factions, shuffle them into a forty-card deck, then compete to smash more Bases than your opponents. Each faction brings a different game mechanism into play – pirates move cards, zombies bring cards back from the discard pile, dinosaurs have huge power – and every combination of factions brings a different play experience. During play, Base cards (each with their own difficulties and abilities) are in play. You attempt to have the most power on the Base from your minions when the Base is smashed. Sounds easy? How easy is it when an opponent's Alien-Ninja decides to Beam Up your minions to other Bases - flat out Assassinate them? What about when the Pirate-Dinosaur player Full Sails in and releases King Rex to stomp your minions into the grou

One of my very favorite writers in comics today is Peter J. Tomasi, probably best known for his work on DC’s Batman and Robin, the Green Lantern family of books and The Mighty. However, the first story of his I ever read was The Light Brigade, which was recently reprinted in a deluxe hardcover edition with additional content from Dark Horse. It’s a gripping story of war and events of biblical proportions! Peter talks with me about how the book came to be, how he feels seeing this product getting new life and a new audience as well as what kind of reaction to the story he's received from readers. He then gives some interesting insight into upcoming events with Robin as well as information about a new reprinting of The Mighty, coming this year from Dark Horse as well. Don’t miss it!
