TODAY, I went to my first apartment to take this picture of the front door. The picture for a short documentary video I'm producing. It was surreal... I remember the day I moved in. I was very excited, and very clueless. I knew I was going to do "big things" but I really didn't know how at the time. I became a student of everything I could. I read, listened to audio lessons, went to the book store (we had those back then), and attended local business meetings in the community and volunteered at all the community events. I figured something would work out at some point. Well, I got all the way down to my last $25. And, I decided to go the Border's books to see what I could learn. I spent the money on a book written by, my now friend and colleague, Debbie Allen. Her book is "Confessions of Shameless Self Promoters". I must have read it 5x. Things began to change from that point. Fast forward 20+ years...... My life is VERY different (and better). I'm still just as ambitious, yet I've learned so much along the

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD >>>> Stop asking to "pick my brain" or pick anyone's brain for that matter.... Why? 1) It's an extraction (no reciprocity). 2) It's the same as saying, "thanks for doing all the hard work for decades, and now I want to take it all without paying for your expertise." 3) The visual of "picking" is horrible. 4) By default, you are saying you are NOT an A-player, because A-players ALWAYS pay for expert advice/coaching/consulting 5) "Buying a cup of coffee" is not payment for an hour of "picking" or "consulting". 6) BRAIN PICKERS do NOT have the money for your coaching/consulting or advising anyways.... that's why they "pick".... so why waste your time with someone who doesn't value you when you literally will get nothing from it? My hourly consulting fee ranges from $300 - $600 depending on a few factors. Give me $600 and I'll buy the Starbucks. And, wait..... it gets better.....
