Some say that you have to pick one genre and just sing in that one. Especially classical voice teachers seem to have the opinion that you will hurt your voice if you sing Rock or Pop. But I say you can learn to sing in just about every genre, and sing in all of them as long as you do it right and know the technique that goes with each genre.
