The cross is God's answer to our alienation and hostilities – "we who were once far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ." Christ unites the un-unitable, and therefore he is our only hope for peace.

The Christian life is a journey of gaining deeper understanding of the grace of God. Here Paul points us to the immeasurable riches of God's grace - though we were once dead God made us alive with Christ.

Paul prays a prayer that every Christian would be wise to pray – a prayer for spiritual enlightenment into who God is and what he has done for us in Christ Jesus. The more we are aware of his grace towards us the more we come alive to him.

Scripture tells us that at God's right hand are pleasures evermore. So it is fitting then that in our search for happiness that we would find it in the Lord. And in this Psalm we see that the word of God transforms the believer and makes him happy.
