Mumcast: The Rick Mummey Show

There's nothing like going to a live music performance. The sights, the sounds, the people-watching opportunities! We asked listeners for their favorite concert experience, and the responses were as varied as the people responding. We'll recount their stories, and finish with music from Minnesota singer/songwriter David Booth. We also mentionour new website rickmum.com.

This time, we reach into our music mailbag and pull out tunes from singer/songwriter Barrett Myers, a marvelous band from Washington state called The Walrus, and a Mumcast favorite, Joe Peters. These are folks whose music is really good and very available! We'll tell you where you can get some.

Our talk with blues-rock guitarist Jason Wells, who's been bringing down houses around the country for several years. Jason has a new album coming out, and we get to sample! Jason talks about his career, and about working with his 14-year old guitar phenom son Gibson.

We talk to Jay McDowell, curator of Nashville's Musicians Hall of Fame, about his job at the museum, his time with the band BR-549, and the funny origin of an iconic song!

We interview Kelly Hogan, of Flat Five Chicago. They're performing 1/16/16 at Duncan hall for Friends of Bob Music Co-op. Kelly is an amazing vocalist, and the band consists of 2 members of NRBQ, and 2 other fabulous musicians, all of whom have worked with amazing artists and each other.

We interview singer-songwriter, guitarist, humanitarian, world traveler Joe Peters, who has traveled the world and played his music everywhere he's gone. We'll talk about his personal approach to songwriting, his participation in a songwriter's group that gives scholarships to young songwriters, and his journey to being an accomplished musician. And we'll sample his music, which you'll love.

On this edition of the Mumcast, Rick talks to his best buddies and bandmates, Larry Smeyak and Dennis Leas about their history as musicians. They'll discuss the question: is there still good music out there? And they'll share weird stories from the road that include goats and dead sponsors. Music from Dr. Fine.
