Blacks have long had a tumultuous relationship with the American military system — from joining and being sent to the front lines of battle, to evading the draft as to keep from having to fight ”the white man’s war” and even to coming home from combat only to be lynched in uniform by the whites they were protecting — but rebellion against American policies and warfare has rarely been as aggressive as they are now.  The aforementioned men were all targeting military related institutions, with the exception of the Christmas tree would-be bomber. Exodus means to me a great journey to freedom it is a spiritual quest a mental and emotional war to free my mind my thoughts to free my heart and express my emotions it is a physical revolution meaning change, changing my ways of living , eating , thinking, conforming, etc. mind. I am tired of watching my people, my sisters and brothers  all our children struggle in this world. If paradise is a state of mind then a freeing of my thoughts to think out-side the box out-side the computer screen and the Hd/Tv screen thinking outside the cell phone screen and the movie screen kind of like in the matrix when he ripped the cords out of his head, neck, body to free myself from all the lies i have been taught and to expose the truth and the wisdom that the great spirit fills me with. to lead my people to freedom through spiritual existance and to light the path to paradise for us and our children.

The recession’s biggest victims The Great Recession could well be known as the ‘Black Mancession’ The Great Recession is sometimes known as the “Mancession” because men were hit so hard by unemployment, but a better term for it might be the “Black Mancession.” While recent data show white men are finding more job opportunities than they did last year, black male job seekers are still in an economic black hole. In April, the jobless rate among adult white males was 7.9 percent, up from 4.1 percent three years ago but down from 9.3 percent in the same month last year. Compare that to the jobless rate of 17.0 percent among black men, down from 17.7 percent a year ago but more than double the rate of 8.4 percent three years ago.

During slavery and afterwards, slaves and workers who were working at fields or elsewhere outdoors, were allowed to sing “work songs”. This was the case, when they had to coordinate their efforts for hauling a fallen tree or any heavy load. Even prisoners used to sing “chain gang” songs when they worked on the road or on some construction project. But some “drivers” also allowed slaves to sing “quiet” songs, if they were not apparently against slaveholders. Such songs could be sung either by only one soloist or by several slaves.
