House Is A Journey

Set dropped for Wendy, Zara, Takis & Zeus at the Pirate Bar in Hydra, Greece.  For the coolest bar on the port of Hydra, for our dear, dear friends, I am uploading this set, which is a slightly expanded version of the live set. Only 45 minutes of the set were usable but I hope the extended version retains that “live feel”.  Groovy, sun-filled grooves with a slight gospel edge.. Jamie Lewis would be my favourite live DJ, Remixer, Producer and Creator , so here is the selection.. This one is for my kids.. We made a deal: They promised that they would behave in the car if I made them their own Mix and if I were to actually publish it..  Here it is. Hello and Happy New Year since this is the first instalment in 2011. "Spring came early on Tahrir Square" To make clear this is NOT a political statement as such and I will moderate (delete ;=) any political rant if I were to get any. Funny how the word "liberal" takes opposite meanings accross the Atlantic divide. Anyhow, the mix came about when I heard the spontaneous song being broken into on Tahrir Square. It reminded me of what happened in Berlin 20 years ago ( I spent that New Year's in Germany), how hopeful people were and how elated I was to see the change happening in front of me. It turned out to be a change for good, I sincerely hope it will be the same for all the democratic movements in the Middle-East. The Love of Love, the Love of Deep House, the Love of Soul and the Love of Funk 2h20 mins of LOVE..I wanted Viv to like this one, hence, I had to try, whilst keeping it somewhat Deep to make it fun.. Jury is still out as to whether we will actually give it a tick of approval. As for me, I do love this set, which I see as one of my best efforts to create an original  soundscape. I Had a request from Viv (my wife !!) to do a fun, " hands up in the air", vocal trance/house mix for her and the kids. Here it is! Highlights are: Forever and a Day, massive tune from Fragma, and King of My Castle 2009 (what a remix!). I tried very hard to mix moroder style Donna Summer & Hey Hey Riva Starr (be kind)   So handbags down on the ground, circle up and starts dancing.. This one is unashamedly vocal, commercial, discofied.. Yet, you'll find some gems such as the new Moroder style remix of Hey Hey and as ordered, it includes Viv's current favourite: Cheryl Cole's "3 Words"...
