The Rochester underground has maintained it’s feverish buzz as 2019 gets under way, and this MC / producer is a large part of the reason why. While Spesh’s resume goes back to the early 2000’s, he reintroduced himself to the world in a big way last year after stepping away from the game for a few years. We catch up with Spesh over salad to talk about the groundwork he laid in 2018 via collaborative projects with Benny The Butcher, Kool G Rap & Joe Blow, his upcoming album with Diggin’ In The Crates and his Trust Comes First imprint that features up and comers Che Noir & Klass Murda. Rick Hyde of Benny The Butcher’s Black Soprano Family has played a large part in that, crafting soundscapes for Buffalo’s finest as well as bonafide rap superstars like French Montana. The quality and consistency in 2018 speaks for itself, and he kicked off 2019 in a big way with “Burnt Offerings,” a collaboration with Lynn, MA’s own Estee Nack - who we are also big fans of and interviewed in early 2018. Ice’s story is one of constant reinvention, musically and personally.
