Hooniverse

This is Episode 200. It's a bit crazy to think we've been gathering to talk into microphones, laptops, handheld recorders, and other bits of tech for a number of years now. To celebrate Episode 200, we decided to record this one in person. A handful of folks gathered at Four Sons Brewery in Huntington Beach, CA and we chatting about our favorite subject.Guests on this episode include Matt Farah from The Smoking Tire and Bradley Brownell from Hooniverse, Flat Six Society on The Drive, and a pair of podcasts on this network (Cammed & Tubbed and The DFL Show).Listen in as we talk through another episode. Chris from B is for Build and Freddy Tavarish Hernandez stop by to talk about cheap cars, YouTube, and anything else we can think of... which is usually inane and random, when you leave it up to us.Chris is entering the challenge with his Mad Maxian Infiniti G35 that he picked up cheap from CoPart. Tavarish has gone with a 4.6-liter Ford Mustang convertible. It's a V8 manual trans car, so it should be a blast even if it looks like a California rental car from the late 90's.

Corbin Goodwin and Michael Elterman are the hosts of a new show called Corbin'S Hit Show. You should watch it because it's hilarious. We invited the pair onto the podcast to chat about the show, and some other topics that pop up including the Corbin's RX-7 and Rolls-Royce Drift Car, and Michael's LS-swapped Fox Body Mustang.

Here's a solo episode recorded a few days after 200 was recorded. Since 200 doesn't come out for a few more weeks, I wanted to make sure I get an episode out this week so we're not waiting longer to run Ep200.Here I talk about some potential project cars I'm looking at acquiring, some possible plans for the HoonTruck, and a recent drive in the new Audi S4 and S5.

Chris and I are in the studio and we're chatting about some of the vehicles I've driven lately. This includes; the Dinan BMW M2 S2, the Audi S3, and... the Chrysler Pacifica for some reason. I'll be heading out later today to sample the latest Audi S4 and S5, which I'll talk about on a future episode. I am solo at home this evening for episode 195. That means we have to chat about the Audi S3 and the Dinan BMW M2 S2. Also, I have your excellent questions to answer.

Kyle and James are the hosts of the Petersen Museum's Car Stories Podcast. They have been running the show there since September and have managed to interview a ton of great folks associated with this industry. Now it's our turn to talk to them... and by that, I mean it's my turn to talk about my truck mostly.

Another in our long series of SEMA podcasts; Zack and I sat down and had a great talk with Dan Sandberg the President/CEO of Brembo North America. Having spent a number of years in radio Dan makes one hell of a guest sharing his insights in manufacturing, growing a brand, product development and just doing good focused business.  

Andrew Collins is the freshly minted Reviews Editor of Jalopnik.com. He and I happened to be attending the same wave for the US launch of the new Aston Martin DB11. I took the opportunity to fire up the podcast-o-motron and record a new episode. This takes place while we're driving the DB11 through the curvy roads of Anza Borrego. You'll hear the car, Andrew's adventures in the off-road world, and some speeding done at strictly legal levels.

Friends of the show Jonathon Klein and Jason Connor join Chris and myself in the studio. We talk about the recent DWA Coastal Range Rally, which Connor attended with his Ford Focus ST. Klein tells us about driving the Scarbo F1 replica car, which sounds amazing.Additionally, there's some news on the upcoming recording of Episode 200! It will take place on April 3rd at Four Sons Brewery in Huntington Beach. Perennial favorites and awe-inspring builders Jim and Mike Ring stop by to share their experience building Wes Rydell's 1948 Cadillac Coupe ATS-V hybrid. As usual the guys have done some outstanding work but few people appreciate just how big of an undertaking the 48 was.  The car is FAR from a simple engine swap and in total it's truly a complete re-engineering of an ATS-V that happens to look like a 48 Caddy.

On this episode Zack Klapman (@ZackKlapman) and I (@HayesData) are joined by the men behind the House of Muscle Mike Musto (@MDMusto) and Pat Devereux, last but not least our good friend Larry Kosilla (@AMMO_NYC) of Ammo Autocare joins the mix as well. We cover the trends of things we're seeing at SEMA, RWB Porsches, generally tacky crap and we fill in the blanks with an occassional jab at each other.

He's been a busy man the last year or so, with his steady stream of One Take videos on his own channel or the great shows he's hosting for NBC Sports as part of The Drive.Matt sits down to talk with us about all of that, and then some. Long time friends of the show BBI autosport grace us with their presence in the Magnaflow booth at SEMA 2016 once again.  Zack and I sit down to talk everything Porsche with BBI including, 991.1 vs 991.2, the future of the GT3, the slow migration of 911 engines forward, carbs vs efi and the legendary build quality of antique german steel.

Chris, Zack, and Jeff are all together in the studio for the first podcast of the new year. The three talk about the new Audi Allroad, dumb valets and the HoonTruck, Zack's BMW M3, Chris' fleet, and what's in store for the rest of the year. After that it's question and answer time.

In a much needed break from being (somewhat) straight-laced at SEMA Carlos Lago (@carloslago) drops by joining Zack Klapman (@ZackKlapman), Jon Klein (@jonathon_klein) and myself (@hayesdata).  We play the segue game througout the episode, Carlos does his best to upset Zack and we also get some actual car talk in there as well.  

Another in our series of interviews from SEMA 2016 we're joined by Dan McNiff from a little tuning outfit called Dinan. This episode is a little crowded with Zack Klapman, Jason Connor and Jon Klein joining me in grilling Dan about what Dinan has been up to for the last year, his views on the new M2, some slips in BMWs lineup vs. their competition and of course the general insanity that surrounds us at SEMA.

Jeff and Zack jump into the studio to talk about the new Subaru Impreza before chatting about their own vehicles. Is it time Jeff considers a new engine for the Wombat and should he replace the HoonTruck? Zack has some CEL adventures he's currently enjoying on his BMW E46 M3. This week friend of the show and amazing builder Jason Engel of Classic Recreations joins us at SEMA 2016. Jason Connor joins for cohosting duties this episode as Mr. Engel has had a hand in helping Jason wrap up his own "Eleanorish" project with a coyote engine. As to be expected of Classic Recreations they've arrived at SEMA with some absolutely gorgeous mustangs including a GT500 and GT350. In addition to Jason sharing his newest projects with us we talk SEMA overall, fabrication the realities of personal projects and Jason drops some knowledge on the Coyote and Voodoo architectures they've acquired over the last few years.

The boys are all in the studio and there's a fair amount to talk about... mostly because of all the great questions.We cover Zack's BMW M3, Jeff heading to Mexico to sample the 2018 Audi Q5, and also how Jeff got his hands on Lamborghini Huracan RWD Spyder before pretty much anyone else. After that it's question time!
