The Oscars are this Sunday, March 27th. To help set the stage and get you prepared, Randy and DJ Pie have prepared a two-part Oscars Extravaganza with Timothy Simons (@timothycsimons). In Part 1, the trio go off in a lot of different directions covering the current state of film, favorite acting performances, the most fun they had at a movie this year, and much more. This episode is very light on any spoilers. I should mention, though, there's a House of Gucci comment at around the 47:00 minute mark, a Spider Man comment at around 1:06.30, and a West Side Story aside at 1:11.45--if you haven't seen those movies. We're talking all things LPGA this week! In Part One, Golfweek's Beth Ann Nichols (@GolfweekNichols) joins Randy to chat about the biggest stories in women's professional golf in 2022 and preview the 2022 season (approximately the first 40 minutes of the episode). And then in Part Two, Randy talks with newly-minted Solheim Cup captain, Stacy Lewis, about receiving that honor, what's she's doing already to prepare for 2023, any tweaks to the qualification system, whether she'll be a playing captain, and a lot more. The situation developing in Ukraine is top of mind this week and therefore Randy and Tron felt the need to bring in NLU Chief Security Officer, Cody McBride, to offer his wisdom and perspective on what's unfolding. Cody has a deep history in the US military and is well-positioned to speak on the subject and inform a couple of lay people like TC and Randy. Super Bowl 56 is here! Bob Sturm joins Tron and Randy to break down the game, and so much more. Bob is co-host of 'The Hardline', weekdays 3-7pm Central, on Dallas's The Ticket Sports Radio. In addition, he writes for The Athletic, and is generally one of the nicer and more thoughtful guys we know. Finally, at about 2:12 minutes, attention goes to the NFL Conference Championship games and what's at stake, including an impassioned defense of Zac Taylor from Randy. In today's episode Randy speaks with writer/author Christopher Clarey of the New York Times and International Herald Tribune about the state of tennis heading into the year's first major, the Australian Open.
