Why Sourcing Referrals Can Improve Retention
07/10/2015 Duration: 29minThe TalentCulture #TChat Show is back live on Wednesday, October 7, 2015, from 1-2 pm ET (10-11 am PT). Last week we talked about the neuroscience of what keeps leaders up at night, and this week we’re going to talk about why sourcing referrals can improve retention. Predicting new employee tenure is about as easy as predicting the weather, even with various data inputs and powerful algorithms we have today. Most people these days stay in their jobs only about 3-5 years. But one thing is clear: referrals can and do have an impact on employee retention. If an employee is satisfied at work, whose performance is consistent, and of course is rewarded fairly, then he or she is much more likely to suggest referrals. They become a brand advocate. And if these referrals have a similar experience to those who referred them, they will in turn potentially last a little longer and make referrals themselves. In fact, even candidates that don’t get hired will make referrals if their experience is a good one. Join TalentCu

The Neuroscience of What Keeps Leaders Up at Night
30/09/2015 Duration: 29minThe TalentCulture #TChat Show is back live on Wednesday, September 30, 2015, from 1-2 pm ET (10-11 am PT). Last week we talked about workplace trends through the eyes of Millennials, and this week we’re going to talk about the neuroscience of what keeps leaders up at night. Leadership has two common derailers: one is being too busy to win and the other is being too proud to see. The former looks at the psychology and neuroscience behind being overwhelmed due to constant connection. There’s definitely a link between this and the impact it has on our productivity, performance, focus and general state of being. The latter deals with the psychology and neuroscience behind change in the workplace. As humans we are wired to resist change at all costs (our brains are literally designed to fight it). Understanding the human side of change and our innate biases can help all of us move through change more effectively and efficiently. Join TalentCulture #TChat Show co-founders and co-hosts Meghan M. These kids today with their mobile devices and instant communication and need for continuous feedback and the job hopping — the fact is, there are a lot of misconceptions about how the Digital Generation works, and what motivates them to perform. PeopleFluent, an HCM technology company, has just produced and published its first proprietary research project on millennials. It highlights millennial workplace trends and how managers can use this information to better recruit, hire, engage and motivate the now majority of the workforce. Candidate Experience Through The Eyes Of The Job Seeker
16/09/2015 Duration: 30minThe TalentCulture #TChat Show is back live on Wednesday, September 16, 2015, from 1-2 pm ET (10-11 am PT). Last week we talked about why compliance is a complex HR necessity, and this week we’re going to talk about candidate experience through the eyes of the job seeker. The process of looking for a new job is very personal. It often starts with a moment—the realization it’s time to move on, a supervisor pushing someone’s buttons, a life-changing event. At that time, the first instinct of today’s mobile-first, digitally-savvy workforce is to pull out their device and start the search. Is your organization ready to seize that moment? Most aren’t, and there’s a growing disconnect between how candidates find and connect with companies online. Career sites represent the largest source of hire, and yet too many recruiting leaders overlook that. To truly understand what drives candidate behavior on the Web, you need to see the experience through the eyes of job seekers. Join TalentCulture #TChat Show co-founders

Why Compliance Is A Complex HR Necessity
09/09/2015 Duration: 29minThe TalentCulture #TChat Show is back live on Wednesday, September 9, 2015, from 1-2 pm ET (10-11 am PT). Last week we talked about the upcoming HR Technology Conference and Exposition, and this week we’re going to talk about why compliance is a complex HR necessity. Most companies want and need to scale over time to be successful. They need to sustain that growth and they’ll need the right talent to do it. That means the ideal goal for HR in any organization is building the best performing teams and finding the greatest talent. But that doesn’t come easy – HR can’t focus on talent acquisition and management unless compliance is addressed. Compliance is a necessity that HR cannot ignore, but it’s increasingly complex, both in our own country and even more so as you enter the global market and have to deal with regulations from other parts of the world. HR technology providers need to be partners in compliance for HR because it can help reduce risk and give them more time to focus on what matters most in thei

How to Recognize and Stop Workplace Bullying and Harassment
26/08/2015 Duration: 28minThe TalentCulture #TChat Show is back live on Wednesday, August 26, 2015, from 1-2 pm ET (10-11 am PT). Last week we talked about why multi-generational leadership activism is in, and this week we’re going to talk about how to recognize and stop workplace bullying and harassment. You may have read the Amazon news recently about their toxic workplace culture. While not new news, the unfortunate fact is there are too many other “bullying” and undermining cultures in business today. Like pollution, workplace bullying and harassment does not usually kill you right away, but an enormous amount of misery is caused — and time wasted — because of unkind words and behavior that cause hurt feelings that take a toll on workplace productivity and relative happiness. All of us can take leadership roles in helping prevent and stop harmful behavior by example, create clear boundaries about what is and is not acceptable, and a plan for upholding these boundaries. Why Multi-Generational Leadership Activism Is In
19/08/2015 Duration: 29minThe TalentCulture #TChat Show is back live on Wednesday, August 19, 2015, from 1-2 pm ET (10-11 am PT). Last week we talked about how social networking and the job search pay off, and this week we’re going to talk about why multi-generational leadership activism is in. Regardless of pop culture wisdom, every generation wants to change the world, and Millennials are no exception. But every new generation’s flaws are also stereotyped and criticized by the mainstream media, to the point where it’s non-productive. What if these very criticisms were the foundation for refreshing new leadership? The good news is they can be, if mentored and nurtured accordingly. In fact, this isn’t the age to just mentor Millennials. We can learn better ways to grow our own talent and leadership skills from different generations. Engagement is out. Activism is in. How Social Networking And The Job Search Pay Off
12/08/2015 Duration: 29minThe TalentCulture #TChat Show is back live on Wednesday, August 12, 2015, from 1-2 pm ET (10-11 am PT). Last week we talked about how employers can help bridge the great debt divide, and this week we’re going to talk about how social networking and the job search pay off. The power of social networking and social media is well known these days. It can be an amazing boon for your career development, but used unwisely can ruin you forever. Managing your online profile and persona consistently and accurately is where it all starts. Those organizations searching you and your “brand” out and reviewing who you are will be looking for anomalies that don’t add up — and you want to always have everything add up — even if you’re not looking for a job. Social networking isn’t a quick fix for managing your career. You need to be thoughtful about your brand and your point of view and nurture every single day for it to pay off. How Employers Can Help Bridge The Great Debt Divide
05/08/2015 Duration: 29minThe TalentCulture #TChat Show is back live on Wednesday, August 5, 2015, from 1-2 pm ET (10-11 am PT). Last week we talked about why recruiting is a legitimate career choice, and this week we’re going to talk about how employers can help bridge the great debt divide. It’s nearly official — the fact that Millennials make up the majority of the workforce. But with all the possibilities ahead for empowering a better workforce, the future is bleak because of the burden of student loan debt and rising healthcare costs. They've reached crisis proportions and they're having a profound impact on the nation's workers and employers. It’s a critical issue today with not only younger generations being able to save for the future, but many Gen Xers and Baby Boomers also feel these financial pains and bear the brunt of lingering student debt. Employers need to offer employees assistance with these issues is greater than ever, especially if they hope to recruit and retain key talent, reduce costly turnover and make up the g

Why Recruiting Is A Legitimate Career Choice
29/07/2015 Duration: 30minThe TalentCulture #TChat Show is back live on Wednesday, July 29, 2015, from 1-2 pm ET (10-11 am PT). Last week we talked about how HR drives positive workforce impact with the right data insights, and this week we’re going to talk about why recruiting is a legitimate career choice. Recruiting has mostly been the accidental career choice. Professionals from varied backgrounds but with a unifying theme of marketing, sales and investigative technical savvy are the ones who’ve fallen into being recruiters and sourcers. However, unlike HR, formal education is still lacking for recruiters and sourcers. It’s largely ignored and dismissed by academia, and yet there’s a growing need for comprehensive corporate recruitment training programs. Recruiting is and should be a legitimate career choice and today there are organizations like the Sourcing Institute Foundation driving that change. Time to seize the business day! HR has more momentum and presence in driving technology decisions than we have seen in years past. So how do we seize the day and innovation to make it impactful to our organizations and workplace? First HR has to understand the business and the metrics that drive competitive advantage. How To Build And Market Your Employer Brand
15/07/2015 Duration: 29minThe TalentCulture #TChat Show is back live on Wednesday, July 15, 2015, from 1-2 pm ET (10-11 am PT). Last week we talked about how to create a culture that rocks, and this week we’re going to talk about how to build and market your employer brand. No matter how you slice it, it’s really a lesson on research and positioning and how you end up marketing your company as the place to work. However, you can’t be everything to everyone and too many companies are trying to be just that. No matter how “great” you think your company is, the “greatness” message won’t weed out the people who aren’t a great fit for your company. So first you should ask your current employees about what your company does well as an employer, and all of the things that it doesn’t do well. Then build a real employer brand foundation so you can better extend that brand in the market. Join TalentCulture #TChat Show co-founders and co-hosts Meghan M. Biro and Kevin W. Last week we talked about the brilliant HR profession of today and tomorrow live from #SHRM15, and this week we’re going to talk about how to create a culture that rocks. Because for those cultures about to rock, we'll not only salute you, we’ll work for you and evangelize for you. Of course that’s a reference to a classic rock song, but it’s a mantra that continues to ring true when it comes to workplace culture today. Great “bands” and brands focus on culture first and foremost so it will drive engagement, business outcomes and ultimately success. As our guest this week puts it — culture is only as strong or weak as the employees that collectively make up the heart and soul of the organization. How Employee Engagement Empowers the Employer Brand
17/06/2015 Duration: 29minThe TalentCulture #TChat Show is back live on Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at its new time from 1-2 pm ET (10-11 am PT). Last week we talked about the art of candidate engagement, and this week we’re going to talk about how employee engagement empowers the employer brand. Spending ridiculous amounts of money to source sought-after skill sets and recruit top won’t get you very far when your employer brand has hit the skids. Meaning, if your current employees aren’t usually happy, even jazzed about working for your company, then that poison seeps into the groundwater and taints the wells around for miles and miles. This is why you must step up your branding game and empower your own employees to evangelize your company culture in an authentic, transparent way. Energizing your employee base to truly engage, tell their stories, share their experiences and engage with potential employees is what empowers the brand. 03/06/2015 Duration: 29minThe TalentCulture #TChat Show is back live on Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at its new time from 1-2 pm ET (10-11 am PT). Last week we talked about how improving the candidate experience empowers a better workforce, and this week we’re going to talk about business strategies that help CHRO’s sleep at night. Industry experts and the media always talk more about what keeps business leaders up at night and less about actionable strategies that enable positive change and help them sleep. Let’s try and change it up a little, particularly for heads of HR state. Change isn’t easy, especially when being applied to solve business problems, but new HR initiatives are important, organization-shifting moments for a company.
