He is a 25 year Miami - Dade Police Officer, with a total of 30 years law enforcement experience. Early in his career, as a rookie he was suddenly attacked in a vicious life and death beating. During the assault, the suspect threw his radio so he couldn't call for backup. During the savage beating the suspect was actively trying to remove Officer Trillo's gun. Freddy discusses the assault and the aftermath. The assault and insufficient self defense training led to his learning Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. On October 1st, 1981 Police Sergeant Jesse Henderson was shot and killed as he interrupted a burglary at a local liquor store in Wellston, Mo. He was shot once in the chest as he exited his vehicle. One adult and one juvenile were arrested and charged with capital murder. Ken Dye is our guest. He was the lead homicide detective on the case. Ken talks about the type of person and Police Sergeant Jesse Henderson was. He also discusses the inside perspective of the handling of the murder investigation, from developing suspects to the arrest of the murderer. Though charged with the murder of Sgt. Henderson, he was never prosecuted, the charges were inexplicably dropped by the prosecutor. Andrew was also a US Marine Corps reservist, and during his police career he was deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan. During his tour in Afghanistan he was attacked and severely injured in a grenade blast. The blast caused Traumatic Brain Injury, Hearing Loss and he also suffered from P.T.S.D. Upon his return and recovery he resumed his police career and began to be overcome by the effects of his injuries, which led to the brink of suicide. Jen Lee is our guest. She talks about the night that she was managing a retail store, part of a national chain. While taking care of customers, she heard the words that she will never forget. During the armed robbery, the armed gunman took all of the store's money, all of her and her customer's money and all but one cellphone. The gunman ushered them all to a backroom where away from the front of the store. They had no idea if he was going to kill them all, or lock them in the room and leave. Fortunately, the robber locked them in the store room and one of the customers managed to hide her cellphone and used it to call police. After a few minutes, what seemed like an eternity a police officer arrived to rescue them.
