    In this Timelines Meet the Voter episode, we interview Mike Clark who is running for reelection to Washoe County Supervisor. In November of 2014, Mike was elected as the Washoe County Assessor and was sworn into office in January of 2015. In his three years in office, he has successfully implemented an open door, taxpayer-friendly environment as evidenced by a nearly 50% reduction in the number of property tax appeals filed this year compared to his first year in office.

Sharron and Ted, her husband, then moved back to Reno where she served from 1998 to 2006 in the Nevada State Assembly. Today Sharron is the author of 3 books and owns a small business in Reno.

    Gary Schmidt moved his entertainment concert company to Washoe County in the early 70's where he produced “Labor Day Music and Arts Festival” in 1973 at T-Car Speedway featuring the Doobie Brothers that drew over 30,000 in attendance.     In 1990 Hopkins was hired by the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office where he attended High Sierra Law Enforcement Academy. In 1993, he was transferred to the Patrol Division of the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office where he worked until 1997 as a D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) Officer, G.R.E.A.T. (Gang Resistance Education And Training) Officer and one of the first CLO (Community Liaison Officers). In 1999 Hopkins was promoted to Patrol Sergeant. As a Patrol Sergeant, he ran teams, leading them through new policies and procedures. This position allowed him to instill the compassion and values in others necessary to make our jails and community safer.

During his career, he was honored to have commanded the Special Weapons and Tactics Team, Hostage Negotiations Team, Detention Response Team, K9 Unit, Motors Unit, Search and Rescue, RAVEN (Aviation Unit), Northern Nevada Counter Terrorism Center, Northern Nevada Regional Intelligence Center and Regional Bomb Squad.
