The New York Jets are focused on clearing out salary cap space as the NFL offseason is set to open in less than one week. The team moved on from veteran tight end CJ Uzomah, clearing out more than $5 million in cap space by releasing him. Uzomah was signed two years ago but struggled to carve out a role with the team. The veteran wide receiver agreed to terms on a new two years contract. It always felt like a longshot that the New York Jets could lure Evans away, but he figured to be a top target of the team if he hit free agency.
