Jordan Henderson, Jurgen Klopp, and how the Liverpool programmes are produced
20/06/2020 Duration: 34minLiverpool will definitely win the Premier League by beating Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday and then Crystal Palace at Anfield on Wednesday. That would end the club’s 30-year wait for the league title and it would be celebrated by millions of Reds fans across the world. Sadly Anfield itself won’t be able to host 50,000 of those supporters on Wednesday evening given the match has to be played behind closed doors. But fortunately some traditions will be still in place – including the official matchday programme which, if the title is wrapped up on the night, is sure to be a collector’s item. So for our latest podcast we speak to long-term Liverpool writer Chris McLoughlin, who helps produce the programme for Reach Sport, which belongs to the same company as the Liverpool ECHO. Chris tells what it’s like to work with Jordan Henderson on his captain’s notes and why the Reds skipper, along with manager Jurgen Klopp, take what they contribute to the programme so seriously. Analysing Anfield: Why Liverpool should be more confident than ever of beating Everton
18/06/2020 Duration: 01h53sDespite not losing a Merseyside derby since October 2010, Liverpool have actually won only one of their last seven trips to Goodison Park to face Everton. But the latest episode of Analysing Anfield argues why that record should change this weekend, paving the way for the Reds to seal the Premier League title at home to Crystal Palace. After reviewing the opening night of the Premier League’s return, Josh Williams and David Alexander Hughes take a deep dive into Everton, explaining why Carlo Ancelotti’s side could find it harder than they usually in the Goodison derby. Our hosts pick out the players and areas Liverpool could exploit and also spell out why the coolness personified partnership of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez could be in for a tough first game back. And the podcast rounds off by looking at the clash with Roy Hodgson’s Palace and the player who could pose a big treat to the Reds being crowned champions on the night. The Liverpool Echo sends a twice-daily Liverpool FC bulletin out via email with t

The Agenda: Liverpool title destiny clearer as Man City beat Arsenal
17/06/2020 Duration: 18minThe Agenda is here to react to the return of the Premier League with Manchester City beating Arsenal 3-0 and so preventing Liverpool from winning the title at Goodison Park this weekend. Had City lost tonight, the Reds would have been crowned champions with victory over rivals Everton in the 236th Merseyside derby on Sunday. But with David Luiz playing an unwitting role, that did not transpire at the Etihad as Pep Guardiola's side saw off 10-man Arsenal with goals from Raheem Sterling, Kevin de Bruyne and Phil Foden. That was the second Premier League match of the evening. VAR controversy marred the first match back as Sheffield United were denied a goal against Aston Villa as they played out a 0-0 draw at Villa Park. Guy Clarke and Matt Addison discuss that, all of the above, and the latest on Mohamed Salah's fitness ahead of the Merseyside derby. Jurgen Klopp’s old team-mate on what the Reds boss was like as a player, his development as a coach, and what happened with Timo Werner deal
14/06/2020 Duration: 35minWe’ve got a very special podcast to round off the week’s listening on the Blood Red channel as Matt Addison picks up the phone to Jurgen Klopp’s former team-mate, and now German football journalist, Guido Schäfer. The pair played together for six years at FSV Mainz 05 in the early 90s and Guido provides a lovely and fascinating insight into what the man affectionately known in his homeland as ‘Kloppo’ was like as a player and as a person back then. Proud Guido then talks about Klopp’s development as a manager, from Mainz, to Borussia Dortmund and now to Liverpool, who he has led to European, World and, soon enough, Premier League glory. Guido now covers RB Leipzig for the Leipziger Volkszeitung in Germany and is perfectly placed to give us the inside track on the details behind Timo Werner’s deal to join Chelsea, when for so long it looked as if the striker was set to sign for the Reds. And Guido also gives us the lowdown on Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann, who is being tipped to succeed Klopp when the great m
