  • Voices In My Head (The Rick Lee James Podcast) Episode 442: STEPHEN MCWHIRTER

    03/11/2021 Duration: 39min

Voices In My Head (The Rick Lee James Podcast) Episode 442: STEPHEN MCWHIRTER   Acclaimed singer/songwriter and worship leader Stephen McWhirter and GRAMMY® and Stellar-nominated recording artist Jason Clayborn have joined forces for Highest Praise, a rousing celebration of soul-drenched worship bowing October 8 from Lula Street Records (Integrity Music). The nine-track live studio set pairs the duo’s impassioned lead vocals with classic rock, Motown, Gospel, and contemporary worship moments.    Produced and co-written by McWhirter, Highest Praise also features eight selections co-penned by Clayborn. The title cut—a Stevie Wonder-meets-Humble Pie groove—is a joyful anthem crossing cultural and musical divides in unified worship. Additional highlights of Highest Praise include the Motown slow-burner “God Be Yourself,” a prayer which clings to His character even in the most difficult circumstances; the modern worship declaration of “Let There Be Love”; and “The Yes Song,” a resounding testament to the promis

  • Episode 441: For Love of Neighbor - Politics For The Common Good Film Synopsis

    03/11/2021 Duration: 23min

Episode 441: For Love of Neighbor - Politics For The Common Good Film Synopsis Web Site: https://faithandpubliclife.com/flon/ A documentary film directed by Ryan Patch, For Love of Neighbor: Politics for the Common Good tells the stories of three individuals—Sen. Tim Scott, Justin Giboney, and Sarah Imboden—who, on different levels and in distinct ways, are seeking to engage faithfully in contemporary American politics. The film does not provide specific answers for how Christians should engage in politics: prescribing who they should vote for or what specific policies they should support. Instead, it explores foundational questions about the purpose (and limits) of politics and the proper Christian posture toward government and secular society. Ultimately, the film aims to spark further discussion and offer a hopeful vision for Christian participation in contemporary public life.       Recording live podcasts via the Wisdom App - join me there and be a part live podcast conversations like this one

  • Episode 439 - William Willimon - The ABCs of Christian Faith

    03/11/2021 Duration: 33min

Dr. William Willimon Bestselling author, popular preacher and teacher, Will Willimon, has just published one of his liveliest books, God Turned Toward Us: The ABCs of the Christian Faith. “The challenge of the Christian life is learning to talk Christian. Somebody has got to tell us, give us the words that open the door to the faith called Christian,” says Will in his introduction. The book takes terms like Atonement, Christ, Incarnation, Justice, Creed and speaks about them in wonderfully accessible ways. The vocabulary begins with an essay on, Abortion, and runs all the way to Zacchaeus. Will’s signature humor and mischievousness comes through, along with his truth-telling witness to the theological riches of the Christian faith. Bishop Kenneth Carder calls this a “sometimes jarring, always interesting, consistently insightful, and persistently provocative invitation to ‘talk the talk and walk the walk’ of Christian discipleship.” Whether a new or longstanding Christian, God Turned Toward Us is sure to

    30/09/2021 Duration: 16min

Rick Lee James - The Love of Christ (A Reflection on Romans 8: 35,37-39)   Disclaimer: The line in this song “leave behind your mask” is not a reference to wearing a mask during the pandemic, which I strongly encourage. It is a metaphor about wearing a façade in front of others and trying to be something we are not before God.   Web Site: http://www.RickLeeJames.com Shine A Light In The Darkness - The Latest Single From Rick Lee James  Get The Single: https://rickleejames.hearnow.com/shine-a-light-in-the-darkness Official Music Video: https://youtu.be/d1l7jWRcbP4

    15/09/2021 Duration: 51min

Stephen McNeill - The Art of Repair New album, The Art of Repair, coming October 15 The Art of Repair is a collection of songs about putting the pieces back together after a season of loss. Inspired by the ancient Japanese art of kintsugi, in which craftsmen mend broken pottery with gold lacquer, the album explores the experience of restoring broken relationships instead of discarding them . The fractures are not hidden but instead are illuminated to become something more beautiful for once having been shattered. Recorded at Young Avenue Sound with engineer Calvin Lauber, the record features a band consisting of Andrew McNeill on drums, Carl Casperson on upright bass, Jon Gaines on piano, and Nathan Dugger on pedal steel. Bringing their journey full circle, the couple became parents to a son, Jonathan, last year.  This past July, For The Fatherless released Poetry, an autobiographical four-song set hallmarked by vulnerability and hope. • Episode 429 - Weston Skaggs: Rich Man

    21/07/2021 Duration: 38min

Old Bear Records Recording Artist Weston Skaggs With lyrics like "Woe to you rich man.." and "be sure your sin will find you out," Weston Skaggs wastes no time in diving deep into themes that are taken directly from the Bible on his new single, "Rich Man" set to release through Old Bear Records on July 16th.  Much like Keith Green, or Larry Norman before him, Weston Skaggs's style of a mix of baritone and falsetto voice undergirded and wrapped with music and arrangements that could have been written and arranged by Brian Wilson or the Flaming Lips attracts a listening ear to the interesting instrumentation at play that softens the very direct and powerful truths conveyed in his lyrics.   By the time you realize you are being challenged with a song that could double as a sermon, its too late.  You're already invested by the sweeping sounds, and pleasant melodies coming through your speakers or air pods.  In a way, "Rich Man" is an audio trojan horse of sorts and we're here for it. This is a song that is cle
