    Interview by James O'Toole Derry City continued their impressive form in the Irish Premier Division with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Waterford FC at the Regional Sports Centre on Friday evening. The solitary goal came from a bizarre own goal by Waterford goalkeeper Louis Jones, who spilled a routine header from Ben Doherty over his own line. The win moves Derry City back to the top of the league table, albeit on goal difference having played a game more than Shelbourne.  Derry City's tenacity proved to be the difference. Key moments from the match:  * Own goal seals the deal: In the 25th minute, Ben Doherty's header towards goal was spilled into the net by Waterford's goalkeeper, giving Derry City a crucial lead.  * Waterford's dominance: Despite conceding early, Waterford controlled much of the possession and created several chances, but Derry City's goalkeeper, Brian Maher, made some crucial saves to preserve his side's advantage.  * Resilient defense: Derry City's defense stood firm throughout the match

    Derry City unveiled there latest signing this afternoon, Andre Wisdom until the end of the season. He is an English professional footballer who made a name for himself as a versatile defender has spent significant portions of his career at Liverpool and Derby County.  Wisdom joined Liverpool's youth system and progressed through the ranks. He made his senior debut for Liverpool in 2012, showcasing his potential. In 2017, Wisdom moved to Derby County on a permanent basis, becoming a key player for the Championship side playing an impressive 145 games. He was also on loan to Norwich ( 11 games, West Brom 17 games and  Red Bull Salzburg 15 games.  Known for his ability to play both as a right-back and a centre-back, Wisdom's versatility will come in useful at Derry. Patrick Cooke caught up with the former Premiership and Championship player at today's press conference.

    Derry City secured their place in the FAI Cup quarterfinals with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Cork City at Turner's Cross on Friday night. The match was a tale of two halves, with Cork City dominating possession and creating numerous chances in the first period. However, despite their dominance, the Rebels were unable to find a breakthrough. Derry City weathered the storm and emerged stronger in the second half. Their persistence paid off in the 72nd minute when Sam Todd headed home a corner from Ciaran Coll to give the Candy Stripes the lead. Cork City continued to press for an equalizer but Derry defended resolutely to hold on for the victory. The result means Derry City advance to the next round of the competition, while Cork City's impressive cup run comes to an end. The win will be a significant boost for Derry City as they look to build on their recent positive form. Cork City, despite the defeat, can be proud of their performance and will look to channel their energy into their First Division ca
