This underrated gem features Jon Cryer just off of his wonderful performance as Duckie in Pretty in Pink and Daniel Roebuck before the majority of his roles became hapless dads and hapless FBI agents. TW: this film has loads of 80s casual racism.

This week we explore the seedy underbelly of 80s punk in the classic film, Suburbia (1983). Not to be confused with the Giovanni Ribisi film from the 90s of the same name, this one has nihilistic teens rejecting the path expected of them and being rejected in return. Bad acting, overlong concert scenes, and pointless nudity abound. Punksploitation at its finest.

Written and directed by Penelope Spheeris, it's a far cry from her later work on such films as Wayne's World and The Little Rascals. We've seen the fun, Hollywood version of punks; now, we see the Roger Corman punksploitation version.
