Dr. Carl Hart is a drug researcher and an occasional drug user because you can be a respectable, intellectual, high-functioning professional and a loving family man and occasionally do a little heroin. If that sounds crazy, why? Why would it be ok if instead of “do heroin” I said “drink whiskey” or “smoke a joint”? Because heroin is harder or more addictive? The killing of Sandra Bland remains a gaping wound in our hearts. We see how nicely Capitol Police treated white rioters and how violently they treat Black people. Sandra Bland is one of those police murdered over nothing. And they tried to tell us it was a suicide. I spoke about her life and her tragic end with the directors of an HBO doc about her called Say Her Name back in 2018 when the film premiered.
