There is no event in human history that was predicted more frequently or accurately than the first coming of Jesus Christ. God’s will has always been to reveal and bring glory to his Son, the point of the entire Bible. It wasn’t ever about humans, or angels, or devils, or Jews, or Gentiles. It has always been about Jesus.

Last week, Pastor Marc Sharp began a series on the Lord’s discipline. We learned that discipline is not the same as punishment and is something to be embraced. Today, Pastor Marc talks about how discipline plays out within the church. What role do the members of the body have in disciplining the church? What offenses bring someone under the discipline of the church? What are the boundaries for church discipline? When should we escalate a discipline process?

We’ve been looking at the ways God has chosen to govern the church. We talked about Jesus as the head of the church, as well as the offices of elders and deacons. Pastor Marc Sharp now moves on from who God chooses for governing to how governance is to proceed. How does God keep the church in order?

In previous messages Pastor Marc Sharp talked about how God has ordered the church, that Christ is the sovereign head, and that he also works through the agency of eldership. In today's message he discusses another set of agents vital to the proper functioning of the Church of Jesus Christ - Deacons.

Last week we saw that Jesus is the Head of his Body, the Church, and that there is no one who is inherently “qualified” or “called” to replace him or speak in his stead. In today's message, Pastor Marc Sharp turns our attention on one group of human agents that Jesus has given to the church in order to lead and provide care - the Elders.

Because of Christ’s perfect obedience, and his unending status as the priestly mediator between God and his church, God has also appointed Christ to be the Head of the Church. This settles forever the question of who really is “in charge” of the church. But, if this is true, how does it work functionally? How does the unseen Christ rule the church in actual practice? Today, Pastor Marc Sharp explores how we as a body recognize Christ as the real head of the church in a world that does not.

For the next several weeks, our messages will focus on what the church is to be like. Today, Pastor Marc Sharp discusses how the church should be a preaching church. But what does it mean to be “a preaching church”? As the people of God, we have two important functions: building up the body of Christ, and proclaiming the resurrected Lord to the lost world. Both of these happen through what can be called “preaching”. What is preaching? Who does it? Is it first and foremost an “inside the church” or an “outside the church” activity?

Listen in as Pastor Marc Sharp answers important questions submitted to him regarding the previous two messages about glorifying God in our physical body.

Human beings alone, in all creation, have the honor and dignity of being made in the “image” and “likeness” of God. The image has been corrupted and polluted by mankind’s fall into sin. If you are a believer, God has washed you, sanctified you, and justified you. He has given you the Holy Spirit to dwell inside of you, not to condemn you but to transform you back into the image of God, and to help you “flee sexual immorality” and “glorify God in your body”. Where are you broken sexually? Where have you failed to glorify God in your body and with your sexuality?

God created us in his image. After the fall, he showed us the perfect image of God in Christ. He redeemed us so that we could be restored to the image of God. He placed his Holy Spirit to dwell within us as a temple and to help us. He has purchased us at the high cost of his own blood. What should be our only response to all of this amazing, glorious, breath-taking truth?

In part 10 of our core beliefs series, Pastor Marc Sharp discusses the consummation of all things, including the physical and visible return of the Lord Jesus. His return will be glorious! The Bible teaches that King Jesus will remain visibly present, enthroned and available to his elect redeemed on a renewed planet earth for all eternity. Everything points to that moment. It is the moment of completion for the church’s mission of proclaiming the gospel to all nations.

In today's message, we continue looking at the core beliefs of NRLC, Part 9, as Pastor David Walt discusses the church, local and universal. The Greek word for “gospel” in the New Testament is euaggelion (yü-än-ge’-lē-on). The basic definition of the word is “good tidings” (or news). But what’s so good about this good news?
