Daily Dementia Dose: Change Your Words, You Change Your World
18/06/2018 Duration: 04minChange Your Words, You Change Your World Today, I'm thankful for our vehicles, our cars, I am going to take it to Walmart to get the oil changed. I'm still thankful for it because we have a vehicle to drive to and from work. Number two that I am grateful for is my kids and number three is Walmart. That attitude of gratitude is very important. The other day, I went to a nursing home and saw a patient. She was complaining about her life, she was complaining about everything. That she was so weak right now and she just had a surgery. When I did my special test and manual muscle testing, and testing all those physical therapy tests, she was actually not weak. She was just saying that she was weak. I told her to change her words. I asked her to tell me how strong she is. She told me that she was just weak. And I told her a bible verse - "Let the weak say I am strong, let the poor say I am rich." I came from a poor country. Do I look like poor to you?

Daily Dementia Dose: Attitude of Gratitude
15/06/2018 Duration: 03minAttitude of Gratitude Yesterday I just received the copy of our Caregiver Freedom Journal. It's a very quick journal that You can write down on everyday for 60 days. You can write down in the attitude of gratitude journal and we have an inspirational quote for caregivers at the top of the pages. Today I wrote down what I am grateful for and in 60 days I will accomplish whatever my goal is. I am grateful for my family, my job, my business and you guys. I'm going to do this everyday and in that way, you can focus on the good and you can focus on gratitude that we can have everyday. The more you focus on the good, the more you attract the goodness. There is what you call the reticular activating system in the brain. It's a part of your brain wherein whatever you focus on will get magnified.

Daily Dementia Dose: How to handle conflict?
14/06/2018 Duration: 03minHow to handle conflict? Conflict is always there. If you have a dementia patient or a loved one with this condition, there will always be conflict and argument. Even Jesus Christ himself said, “I come into this world not to give peace, but to come and give trials and tribulation.” Conflict is always there. What you need is to know how to handle it. The first thing you need to do is to accept the fact that there’s always conflict in this world. Accept the fact that there will always be a misunderstanding. Especially when you are taking care of a dementia patient. Second is identifying the source of the conflict. What is the cause of their behavior? Why are they mad? Why are they upset? Why are they irritated? It could be a physical problem, an emotional problem. It could be that they are just irritated because they are uncomfortable. The third is learning how to embrace and to know, and learn from the actual conflict itself.
