  • Why Jesus?… Plus, Servant Leadership

    27/03/2019 Duration: 34min

On Episode 12 of What Now with Anna & Eric, we ask the question Why Jesus? And take a short look at servant leadership.  Challenge of the week: Wrestle with Faith.  Wherever you are in your life, not knowing Jesus or having known him for a while we ask you to wrestle with faith. If you don’t believe in Jesus, have you every actually tried Jesus? Because as our mothers said with foods we despised, how will you know you don’t like him if you never try him in the first place? And if you have known Jesus for any length of time, have you wrestled with those questions you’ve always had? Sometimes we are afraid to ask the hard questions because we think it will destroy our faith. But really, what destroys our faith is ignoring questions that trip us up later. We will never know all there is to know about God, but maintaining our faith while addressing our doubts can actually strengthen our belief in Jesus. It can also be fun.  On another note. We are all leaders in some capacity. How are you leading the p

  • Mercy

    19/03/2019 Duration: 31min

On Episode 11 of What Now with Anna & Eric, we talk about mercy.  What does Jesus say?  Jesus talks about mercy on two separate occasions that we talk about. The first is a moment where Jesus followers ask how many times they are supposed to forgive people and Jesus blows them out of the water by giving them a number that blows theirs out of the water. The second is the story of a debtor who owes money to the king, and is shown mercy, but then goes out and throws his own lesser debtor in jail.  What now?  Self-assess, how have you been shown mercy?  Look for opportunities to extend mercy to others, even if it’s uncomfortable.

    07/03/2019 Duration: 35min

On Episode 10 of What Now with Anna & Eric, we ask the question – How do I invite? What does Jesus say? Jesus was often inviting people to follow him by first inviting them into his life and engaging with them in their lives. • What About my Enemy?

    27/02/2019 Duration: 34min

On Episode 9 of What Now with Anna & Eric, we ask the question – What About my Enemy?  What does Jesus say?  In the book of Luke (6:27-31) Jesus says: “But to you who are willing to listen, I say, love your enemies! Do good to those who hate you. Bless those who curse you. Pray for those who hurt you. If someone slaps you on one cheek, offer the other cheek also. If someone demands your coat, offer your shirt also. Give to anyone who asks; and when things are taken away from you, don’t try to get them back. Do to others as you would like them to do to you.”  Tips?  Don’t go into loving your enemy expecting them to change. Sometimes you need to make loving your enemy about you. Jesus calls you to be kind. You also need to ask for forgiveness. You can change the situation by playing your part.  What now?  Pray for your enemy.  Do good to your enemy.  Forgive your enemy.

  • How to Read the Bible

    20/02/2019 Duration: 31min

On Episode 8 of What Now with Anna & Eric, we talk about how to read the Bible.  Where do I start?  Start with the book of John and float around the New Testament for a while before getting into the law and the prophets (old testament). Another secondary read option. Check out the book of Proverbs. It has 31 chapters, so if it’s Feb. 22 read Proverbs 22.  When should I read the Bible?  Find the best time for you, but some great options are the evenings, mornings or both.  What now?  Start with John, go to Matthew, Mark, and Luke.  Read in the evenings, the mornings, or both. Try memorization.  Download YouVersion Bible on your phone.

  • Now of What Now?

    14/02/2019 Duration: 29min

On Episode 7 of What Now with Anna & Eric, we talk about the Now of “What Now?”  What about Jesus?  When Jesus first called Peter to follow him the fisherman was skeptical. But he made a radical choice. He said, okay “if you say so” I’m going to follow your call. In the face of potential embarrassment and more exhaustive work, Peter chose to obey Jesus and as a result crazy fish tricks started happening.  What’s keeping us from following right now?  It's easy to find a reason to put off taking next steps. There’s no time, no opportunity and life just gets in the way. However, sometimes we have to counter these excuses by doing just a little, by making our own opportunities, and by choosing to obey just because Jesus said so.  What now?  Engage in our podcast and discover next steps you can take.  Obey just because Jesus said so.  Do it now!

  • A Lot With a Little

    14/02/2019 Duration: 30min

On Episode 6 of What Now with Anna & Eric ask, if I only have a little power what can God do with it?  Did Jesus get a lot with a little?  There are multiple instances where Jesus used a little to get a lot. He fed 5,000 from one fish and two loaves of bread, he said we could move mountains with a little faith, and most notably he used a small group of people to make a huge impact on the world.  Do I even have a little?  We all have a little bit of something. Maybe it’s only a little bit of power, a little bit of money, a little bit of influence...but when we dedicate our little to God he can do great things.  What now?  Start journaling instances where God took a little in your life and made a lot. Be empowered!  Take the first step to give a little – whether it’s a couple hours of service, a little prayer, or a little faith. Be proactive!

  • Show Up

    01/02/2019 Duration: 31min

On Episode 5 of What Now with Anna & Eric we ask the question, should I show up on Sunday?  First, did Jesus show up on Sunday?  One of Jesus’ early life stories was about his parents searching for him because he had a “show up on Sunday” moment. There he was, teaching in front of a bunch of other people and telling his parents - of course I would be in my father’s house.  In frequent gatherings to listen to Jesus and his followers, the people of the early church actually showed up more than we do.  What are the benefits of showing up?

  • Share Your Story

    01/02/2019 Duration: 35min

On Episode 4 of What Now with Anna & Eric we ask the question, how do I share my story?  First, why should I share my story?  Before Jesus left this earth, he told his friends to share His story with the world.  Our story is the greatest tool in our toolbox as we share Christ. It’s our story and nobody can argue with it. We all have moments in our lives where God came through.  What does my story look like?

  • Life Groups

    01/02/2019 Duration: 29min

On Episode 3 of What Now with Anna & Eric we ask the question, what about life groups (or small groups)? First, why are life groups important? Jesus was a great model for the importance of life groups. He spent a majority of his time in ministry hanging out and discipling a close-knit group of friends. Life groups are a great opportunity to be in community with other people. More importantly, an opportunity to do life with people. When we hit our ups and downs its important to have a community of support and encouragement. It’s also helpful to have a group for accountability.
