Ep. 9 One Church's Response to the Executive Order on Refugees ft. Rev. Joel Hubbard

Informações:

Synopsis

Since the executive order that indefinitely barred Syrian refugees from entering the United States and blocked citizens of seven Muslim-majority countries, more than 800 places of worship nationwide - including more than 60 United Methodist Congregations - vowed to shelter and protect immigrants and refugees. One of these churches is Park United Methodist Church in Bloomfield, NJ. The senior pastor of Park UMC Rev. Joel Hubbard, along with leaders of other worshipping bodies in his community, took a vocal stand on national news stating quote: "[We] are disappointed in the president’s recent expectation of an executive order on immigration,” and “We remain committed to providing care and refuge and sanctuary to refugees to this country.” Pastor Joel talks about how he and Park UMC were called to host refugees, and how the church deals with political and social issues as a worshipping body in a community.
