Lee Offenhauer: felt himself go into a different state of consciousness. It was a sleep-like sensation, drowsiness, and droopy eyes. He just gradually lost awarenss of the external environment, but consciousness was still much as it was/is in the waking state. The main difference between waking, and this state other than the fact that none of my external senses were operating, was that he had a definite lack of volition. Lee was not in control of his surroundings. That moment when you reach for it with your mind to move it, and there's just no "connect;" that was what Lee's state of mind was like in relation to free will. There were stars, or what appeared to be stars, all around; and as he looked closer, trying to see more clearly what they looked like.
