Curtis Brinkley, Jr. was born September 20, 1985 in Philadelphia, PA to Tawanda Cason and the late Curtis Brinkley, Sr. Boonah as he is affectionately known, has two younger sisters and was raised in the east falls section of the city under the loving care of his parents and his maternal grandmother Margie Cason. Educated in the Philadelphia public and parochial school systems, Boonah attended Roxborough High School as a freshman, but was recruited by West Catholic High School on a football scholarship because of his athletic ability. While at West Catholic, Boonah established his football legacy as the holder of two Philadelphia city league football records for season and career rushing yards, having run for 7,412 yards and 85 touchdowns. He received his high school diploma in June 2004. Prior to graduation, Boonah signed with Syracuse University, however, in preparation for the rigors of division I NCAA football he attended Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, VA.
