Multiple combat tours, an IED explosion, the stress of a military career, combined with the trauma of his police career almost ended their marriage. His mission to help save other sheepdog marriages. He served for more than 20 years and retired from the US Navy. Much of his military career was in E.O.D. (Explosive Ordnance Disposal), which meant multiple combat deployments. During one of those deployments, he and his unit were the targets of an I.E.D. explosion and came under attack. After retiring from the Military he became a police officer in South Florida.
