Matt Laufenberg is the Managing Director of Trading and Operations for GlobalMacro Capital Management, a boutique Capital Market Research and Investment Management Firm.  He also coaches youth swimming for a local year-round club and is active in the Chicago Dads Community. His family comprises his loving, patient wife, a two-year-old daughter, and an energetic mini-goldendoodle that he believes causes more trouble than any toddler. Death of First Child Matt starts off the podcast talking about the death of his first child Caroline. Before she was born, they discovered that she had chromosome abnormalities. Despite many ailments, their baby lived for five months until she couldn’t breathe on her own anymore and passed away. Her death made him want to escape to work, but he knew that he was taking the wrong step. He admits that he felt unhappy with where his life was at during the first year after her death. This drove him to ignore people’s suggestions to avoid making big changes. As a resul
