The story of the rich man and Lazarus is not one of Jesus' parables, but rather a true story. Some of the reason for believing that the story is not a parable are: 1) Jesus never said it was a parable; 2) No one asked him to explain it; 3) He names a certain man and specifics about the story; 4) There is no real life situation to compare it to like the parables, which are told in a way that the hearer can identify with their own life experiences; 5) Jesus never said anything that wasn't true. This story proves that there is life after death as is mentioned many times in the Bible.
