I pushed my dad’s body into the fire.This is something I never imagined I would do.When I was faced with the opportunity to make this transition for my father I knew I had to do it.I knew I could walk away and have someone else do it but I knew I didn’t want to live my life that way.I knew the person I wanted to be and that person is the one who doesn’t shy away from the hard things. I know what it’s like to feel completely overwhelmed and afraid. I’ve been the person that never had a tolerance for hard things.I mean, who looks forward to dealing with negative things, right?! When it was clear my father was passing away I vowed to stay with him through it all. I didn’t leave his side. For both he and I, it's what I had to do. I held him while he took his last breath, I laid with him for one last snuggle after he was gone, and as a final act of love I pushed his body into the crematory.
