When you fail at something, is it because you were not being authentic? Is it inauthentic to let others’ opinions sway the direction you take your work? What is the balance between marketing yourself to the masses, but staying authentic to yourself? How do you move on from publicly trying something out and failing? Should the road to finding your niche most ideally be linear? Richie tried out several genres of music before finally arriving at what felt most authentic to him. He shares his story about feeling pressured to make music that the masses liked even though it wasn’t true to him.
