Pastor Marc Sharp continues the series on the minor prophets with the book of Zechariah, the longest of the twelve books. In some ways it is a difficult book to understand and often neglected by Christians. Zechariah is often referred to in the New Testament, with about 54 passages from Zechariah echoed in about 67 different places in the NT, with the lion’s share of these found in the book of Revelation. Though it was written to a people in the 6th Century BC, and addressed their real world concerns and challenges, it speaks comforting promises to us as well, if we have ears to hear what it tells us about God’s love for us today. This world is not our ultimate homeland, and we need to understand that God is in control even when it seems at times that he isn’t. The future he has planned for us is bright, hopeful and absolutely guaranteed by the One who can’t lie!
