Last week we spent the morning looking at the cup that Jesus drank for us on the cross. The cup of God’s wrath emptied as Jesus hung upon a cross. If the story had ended on the cross our lives today would be very different. Paul says to the church at Corinth: 1 Corinthians 15:14 (NASB) 14 and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain…17 and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins. 18 Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. 19 If we have hoped in Christ in this life only, we are of all men most to be pitied. If Christ is who the Bhuddist, the Muslim, and the atheist say He is – a man who taught good things – if this is all He is then we are in deep trouble. If His bones are lying in some unmarked grave somewhere in Palestine then friends Paul says your faith is worthless and you are still lost in your sins.
