Paul begins this next thought with a word that you might miss – but it is vital to our understanding of what he is saying. The word is “brethren”. The next verses are not written to contrast Christians with the World. These words are written to express where joy is found within the journey of following Christ. On this journey of becoming disciples of Jesus Christ we find two paths laid out but only one of them brings true joy.
