The NCAA ordered UNLV to fire its head basketball coach, Jerry Tarkanian, back in the ‘80’s. Tarkanian sued, claiming the NCAA violated his due process rights. But the Supreme Court, in a 5-4 decision, said the NCAA was a private organization and not subject to such a lawsuit.
