As Jesus anticipates his impending death on the cross, he prepares his disciples for what will happen to them after he is gone. They will be persecuted because of their love for Jesus — some even killed — but such persecution will be an encouragement to them because it identifies them with their Savior. He also assures them he will send a Helper and that through this Helper they will boldly tell others about who Jesus truly is and what he has done on behalf of sinners.
