Judas Iscariot had already departed the Upper Room to betray Jesus. Peter had been told by Jesus that he would deny him. Jesus’s death was imminent. The disciples were understandably anxious about what was to come, but Jesus reassures them that his leaving is to their advantage — that the Holy Spirit would come to them to help them, comfort them, and bring a right understanding of sin, righteousness, and judgment.
