As Jesus prayed, he cried out to his Father on behalf of those who followed him. He prayed that God would protect them and sanctify them, making them holy and preparing them as they were sent out into the world on mission. He also prayed for us today —those of us who call upon his name and submit to him as Lord and Savior — and for his church, his followers gathered together in unity in one body. It is through his church that the world will know that Jesus is the Son of the Father and was sent by him to redeem the world.
