We see that God uses Elisha to prove to the Israelites he is no respect of person and he shows his favor to two gentiles. This story told in the ears a thousand years later and raise the Jews, to the point they want to kill Jesus because of it. The old saying familiarity breeds contempt is true. They were so close to the Messiah and they could not see him because of their prejudice and false self-righteousness.
