Jesus is alive! While Jesus died in place of sinners on the cross, taking on the sins of the world and experiencing divine judgment, his death would have been meaningless if things had ended there. But three days later, on a Sunday before dawn, Jesus rose from the grave — and that changes everything! In John 20:1–18 we read that as John entered the empty tomb, he saw and he believed! A short time later, Mary Magdalene experienced the joy of seeing Jesus in the flesh, and as she went to tell the disciples, she announced, “I have seen the Lord!” The joy that they experienced can be yours, too. Believe that Jesus has risen from the dead and that he has paid the price for your sins, too, and experience the joy of union with the victorious, life-giving, risen Christ.
