Synopsis
From gold medalist to a tarnished reputation.Sam Gaze's sportsmanship is under fire for comments after his otherwise outstanding gold medal finish in the men's mountain biking on the Gold Coast. He's been forced to apologise to fellow Kiwi rider Anton Cooper - who claimed the silver - after calling him out for not stopping when Gaze had a puncture.During the race, Gaze 'flipped the bird' when Cooper sailed past, even though he chased him down in a momentous effort to take out the gold.Radio Sport reporter Brenton Vannisselroy told the Radio Sport Breakfast that Gaze's antics have completely overshadowed what should have been a wonderful 1-2 for New Zealand."It completely took away from what should be remembered as a sporting highlight of these Games."[It was] one of the great sporting comebacks from Sam Gaze, to comeback from a flat tyre on the final lap to win. Instead we're talking about the rather prattish behaviour of a completely ungracious winner."LISTEN ABOVE AS BRENTON VANNISSELROY SPEAKS WITH THE RADI
