Text: Jeremiah 29:11; 1-32. Jeremiah was writing this text to people who had lost everything and were living in a foreign country. He wrote a letter which is recorded in 29:4-14. God took ownership of their deportation to Babylon. He told the people to multiply and to pray for the place where they were to thrive, and then they would thrive, too. Pray for your workplace. God told them they would be there for seventy years. They were to plant, marry, have children, and pursue the welfare of the city: prosperity, abundance, and peace. Put others first. God said that His purpose for them was to give them a future and a hope, when it looked hopeless. Daniel found the words of what to do when the seventy years were done, and that was to fast and pray (Daniel 9:1-2). Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law (Galatians 3:13).
