Ep 27: Why Are 20s the Most Important Decade of Your Life? Pt. 1
28/03/2016 Duration: 29minIn this episode I will be talking about why are the 20s most important decade in your life. This is inspired by Dr. Meg Jay's book called The Defining Decade - Why 20s Matter. I guess I could call it a book club type of episode, but I'll be sharing my insights and thoughts about matters discussed in this book as well. Dr. Meg Jay, the author, is a clinical psychologist, she argues that twentysomethings have been caught in a swirl of hype and misinformation, much of which has trivialized what is actually the most defining decade of adulthood. This episode is my take on the most defining decade of our lives adn ways Gen Y can approach it more effectively. Both the book and this podcast episode weaves the latest science, yes, it's not new agey stuff, it is science backed, of the twentysomething years with behind-closed-doors stories from twentysomethings themselves. The goals is to provide the tools necessary to make the most of your twenties, and show you how work, relati

Ep 18: Why Is It OK To Be A Generalist And Not Have One True Calling?
25/01/2016 Duration: 10minThis gets me. I hate 10,000 hour rule advice. Is it wrong? I don't know, but I can't go against my nature. And that is to embrace my polymath inclination. I declare myself to be a generalist. Today I will go over why I think it's OK to be one, what are some advantages of being one and why not being a generalist is the way of the old world. Being good at one thing will get you somewhere good—a safe job, a reliable paycheck—but being good at multiple things will bring you somewhere great. Here are my reasons: 5) “Jack of all trades, master of none” is an artificial pairing. 4) In a world of dogmatic specialists, it’s the generalist who ends up running the show. 3) Boredom is failure. 2) Diversity of intellectual playgrounds breeds confidence instead of fear of the unknown. 1) It’s more fun, in the most serious existential sense. Be too complex to categorize. Look far and wide. There are worlds to conquer. If you've enjoyed this episode subscribe to ELI20
