After a rough 4-6 run in the Wild's last ten games, including a five game losing streak, the much coveted eight seed in the Western Conference is looking further away then ever. The California Curse for the Wild ended for one night, and returned mere hours later. The Wild lost to Anaheim, and the L.A. Kings spoiled the Wild's New Year party. Jacques Lemaire returns with the Devils on Saturday and we discuss that as well.

The Wild are the hottest team in the NHL in their last 10 games, tied with Boston at 8-1-1. The newcomers' magic has cooled some, while the established vets have taken back over, along with some of the disappointing players finally stepping up.

As the Wild went 3-0-0 in the last week, we talk about the key play of the team's newcomers. Guillame Latendress, Chuck Kobasew, and Andrew Ebbet have lead the Wild to three straight wins, bringing the team to one game under .500.

The Wild trade Benoit Pouliott for Latendresse Guillaume, and acquire Andrew Ebbet via waivers, but the "excitement" doesn't end there! The Wild have become the Concussion Junction, with Bouchard missing all but one game with his head injury, Brent Burns with his second one in 6 months, and Petr Sykora also incurring one.

At home, the Wild have lost only one game, while on the road, they've WON one game... go figure. That's classic Wild in terms of seesaw performances, but the final game reviewed in this episode was clearly the most impressive.

The Wild continue to stink, at 1-6-0, but at least they finally have a real permanent captain to call their own. Virtually everyone knew that Koivu was the man for the job, but apparently Todd Richards wanted to wait it out. The Wild's play thus far reeks of a long year.

In the "Silver" episode 25 of B.T.W. we cover the first four games of the Wild's season. Joey notices some nice and welcome changes in how the Wild operates, but it may take a long time to see better results in the W-L column.

The Wild make their final cuts, including a few surprises. Coach Todd Richards is still yet to name a captain for the Wild, many expect Mikko Koivu. Joey also briefly reviews the final preseason games.

The enigmatic Petr Kalus has been sent down to Houston for the third year in a row, will he quit on the team again? Danny Irmen has made a very good impression on coach Todd Richards. Irmen believes that the change in system could mean a long awaited NHL job is in the works.
