138 – How owning real estate helps this physician couple live life on their own terms
25/11/2019 Duration: 50minSEND US A TEXT MESSAGE!!! Let Drs. Nii & Renee know what you think about the show! What’s up and good everyone, When the podcast first started, I spent time driving home the notion of being a good steward with your money. This included saving more than you spend, paying off student loan debt, and using index funds for passive investing. The famous book by Robert Kiyosaki Rich Dad Poor Dad helped the masses change their mindset from trading time for dollars, and embracing real estate as a driver of wealth. You can count me in on that group. Dr Renee and I are beginning our journey into purchasing multi-family homes and renting them out to develop an alternative stream of income. We’ll keep you posted. The book also sparked the success of my next guests - Dr. Leticia and Kenji. They have worked very hard to build up a portfolio of rental properties that is now allowing them to live life and practice medicine on their own terms. Taking an entire year off to travel - no problem! Picking up clinical shifts

My next guest, who is Dr. Lauren Powell, has something to say about this. Dr. Lauren, also known as “The Culinary Doctor,” is a board-certified family medicine doctor. 132 – Your mind is what’s holding you back from your true potential!
14/10/2019 Duration: 41minSEND US A TEXT MESSAGE!!! Let Drs. Nii & Renee know what you think about the show! What’s good everyone!! When I started Docs Outside the Box, I wanted to expose listeners to doctors thriving in non-traditional career paths. Just listening to episodes, might not be enough. I am learning that mindset plays a big part in our ability to take action, and also have positive energy in our lives. The fixed mindset keeps us from removing ourselves from toxic work environments, starting a podcast, or even taking a chance on a side-hustle we might be passionate about. I want to start introducing topics around mindset and habit – building into the regular schedule of this show. Nate Klemp, PhD, is an expert in this field and jumps on this show to talk about his NY Times Best-Selling book, Start Here: Master the Lifelong Habit of Wellbeing. This book is about learning that the same way we train our body for fitness, is the same way you can train your brain for wellness! The book is based on the Life Cross Training S

02/10/2019 Duration: 43minSEND US A TEXT MESSAGE!!! Let Drs. Nii & Renee know what you think about the show! What’s good everyone! Welcome to a new series called “The Come-Up.” In previous episodes, I’ve mentioned that it can difficult to identify with a successful person’s journey, especially if they’re on Step 1000 (i.e. Oprah Winfrey, Jeff Bezos). If you got a chance to listen or even talk to someone who is on Step 5 would that make a difference in your life? I think so – I would find it really inspiring to see successful people as their “figuring it out.” That’s what this series is all about. Connecting you docs who are “figuring out” their life as a doc outside the box right in front of our eyes. These episodes are meant to be raw, emotional, cool AF and uplifting. The best part is – you can be apart of this conversation. I’m featuring listeners who will allow us to follow them through their journey, and be open to coaching. Our first guest is Dr. Nana Korsah, a former Nephrologist who has recovered from burnout, and now is a

Not only is he a creative, he’s also made the transition into hospital administration and serves as a Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of a large physician group in California. Now, I’m not the biggest fan of corporate medicine, but Peter gives us a direct look into the life of a physician who serves as a CMO. Honestly, he has changed my perspective with this interview.
