Missions is a work of God, a work that He has called His church to participate in, and it is a work that must be carried out in wisdom. Paul exemplifies this missions principle in Acts 16:35-40.

Because of sin, the heart of man must be changed. Missions is a work of God, and it is a work that brings about real and lasting change in all whom Christ saves.

The spiritual opposition that Paul and his missionary team faced in Philippi (Acts 16:16-18) quickly turns physical. Paul and Silas face this opposition (Acts 16:19-24) and we see the hand of God at work, moving heaven and earth to bring a soul to salvation (Acts 16:25-31).

In Acts 16 the apostle Paul is led by God into Macedonia, to the city of Philippi, to preach the Gospel unto them. The mission there is blessed with the conversion of Lydia and her family, but very soon after Paul faces spiritual opposition to the work he was doing there. In this sermon we will examine the spiritual opposition that Paul faced, and the manner in which he faced it.

What constitutes Christian Missions? How can we be sure that we are approaching missions Biblically? In this weeks sermon, these questions are considered and answered from Paul's missionary journey into Macedonia. The first principle that can be gleaned from Paul's experience is that true Christian missions is a work of God (Acts 16:6-15).

The fourth chapter of Luke presents the reader with an overview of the ministry of Jesus Christ. In the closing verses of this chapter Luke reveals the extent and necessity of the ministry of the Savior.
