Exeter Vineyard Church Messages

We are looking at God’s plan for church, especially for us at Exeter Vineyard. These four weeks are to help us all have the same 'jigsaw puzzle lid' as we work towards God's purpose for us. Today we think about God's plan to reach out to the world... using the church. We think about how this might happen and how each of us can be involved. We look at Jesus' commission to a load of nobodies to see themselves as part of God's strategic plan, to be proactive about doing something good, to be out in the world and to be brave enough to give the glory to God.

Today we think about how we God has equipped us with gifts, talents, skills, abilities, passions and personalities and how God has designed the church as a place to equip us to use them. And to use them not only for our benefit, but for God's glory and the 'big task' of bringing order and beauty to the world.

This summer we're using these slightly shorter talks as an opportunity to allow the Bible to challenge us through people talking about a verse they feel prompted to consider. Today Paul looks at a well known verse, but challenges us to re-read it and understand it is a call to challenge injustice by going out into a messy world.

This summer we're using these slightly shorter talks as an opportunity to allow the Bible to challenge us through people talking about a verse they feel prompted to consider. Today Pete talks about how we should see failure as a chance to grow and learn, and how not trying anything new because we fear failure is the ultimate failure.

We think about what this means and why Jesus’ train of thought fascinatingly incorporates sin, hospitality and shepherds. Today we think about how it's interesting that, in a passage about being like a child, Jesus talks so much about sin. We look at the point he is making about how we structure our lives and the effect sin has.

We’re looking at Jesus’ teaching about how to be a success in the Kingdom of Heaven. His answer? Become like a little child. We think about what this means and why Jesus’ train of thought fascinatingly incorporates sin, hospitality and shepherds. Today we think about status - how the world understands its importance and how Jesus turns this all upside down. We consider how, as followers of Jesus, this means we have to look at all people differently, no matter their social standing.

We’re looking at Jesus’ teaching about how to be a success in the Kingdom of Heaven. His answer? Become like a little child. We think about what this means and why Jesus’ train of thought fascinatingly incorporates sin, hospitality and shepherds. Today we think about intellectual pride and how this invisible attitude can destroy our ability to experience God and what he wants to do.

As we start to live out God’s life in our everyday lives we should expect to see it overflow and impact the people and situations around us. But when that happens, are we ready? Today we finish our series thinking about 3 practical skills to help us live fruitful lives as Christians. We are looking at How to Pray for Someone, How to Lead Someone to Jesus and How to Hear from God. Today Dave talks about how to hear God. It’s something we can often have an inferiority complex about, but in reality responding to God’s leading is incredibly simple and normal. We hear from a number of people about how they hear God and Dave talks about some general principles to help us grow in confidence about hearing God.
