Exeter Vineyard Church Messages

As we start to live out God’s life in our everyday lives we should expect to see it overflow and impact the people and situations around us. But when that happens, are we ready? Today we start a new series thinking about 3 practical skills to help us live fruitful lives as Christians. We are looking at How to Pray for Someone, How to Lead Someone to Jesus and How to Hear from God. Today Dave talks about praying for others. While we can be nice to someone and we can help them, it is often when we ask, “Can I pray for you right now” that it suddenly opens up the possibility of God being involved in their lives. Today Dave thinks how we can be a people who put our faith on the line by offering to pray, with some practical advice about how to do it. Our final week looking at the letters to Timothy. Today Dave talks about how highly Paul thought of Timothy - he saw him as gifted guy with amazing potential. But for Paul, this also meant something about Timothy’s responsibility - to share the Good News with others. Today we think about our God-given gifts and potential and how we might better understand what it means to share the Good News. While we’re not all called to church leadership, we are all called to lead the people around us, whether it’s by example or by going against the flow or loving first. As we follow Jesus, wherever we find ourselves, we are being Led to Lead. Over these four weeks we will be thinking about principles from these two books of the Bible that can apply to living out Jesus’ calling on our lives. Today’s podcast is in two parts. This is the last week of our series called, “Money Talks”, where we’ve been asking, what would money say to us if it were leading us towards God and what would it say if it were leading us away from God? Today Dave looks at the counterintuitive idea of generosity. Unredeemed money would say, “The best life comes from having more of me” while redeemed money would say, “Generosity gives you the best life.” Surly more is more, but in reality we see that the universe is actually hardwired to reward generosity. During these three weeks we’re asking, what would money say to us if it were leading us towards God and what would it say if it were leading us away from God? Today Richard looks at the idea that having more will make us happy. Unredeemed money would say to us, ”Only comparing yourself to people who have more money than you is not a greed problem”, but redeemed money would say, “Don't look to me for contentment”.
