2015 En Mai, fais ce qu'il te plaît
29/05/2015 Duration: 01h51min2015 En Mai, fais ce qu'il te plaît French Proverb meaning “In May, do what pleases you”… Where I use the orphans on my hard drive. Claude Nougaro, Phil Collins, Eric Clapton, Grace Jones doing Edith Piaf, a Rolling Stones sampled cover, a twisted take of EBTG’s and lo and behold a 2015 remix of Neil Young/Nicolette Larson’s Lotta Love.. How is that for eclectic? Every year at about the time of my Taurean birthday, I try to put together a playlist of odd tunes, jams that never get a chance to make it to a set due to the filtering process I use. Either they are not quite five stars, do not fit into any strict genres or are jams I feel I may like but depart from a true house format. But it is that time of the year again and whilst I was on an extended trip to China and before embarking on a progressive house new journey, I propose you the 2015 version of “En Mai, fais ce qu'il te plaît”. It is eclectic, starting with a French flavour with the late Claude No

2015 April Deep Sessions VIII (Where America meets Europe)
26/04/2015 Duration: 01h19minDeep Sessions VIII (Where America meets Europe) Foreword on the art: I found this little gem whilst looking for the better album cover for the set. This place in Iceland called Þingvellir is on the plate boundary of the tectonic plates of America and Europe. Both plates drifting apart leaving behind cracks in the surface, which are sometimes filled by water. From the inner geek in me, it was like sweet chocolate.. To see the pic in its entire beauty: https://www.flickr.com/photos/lichtmaedel/8528196516/ Deep Sessions VIII: where New York and Chicago meet Manchester and Berlin. Where left-brain meets right-brain. Where Grooves meets Technique. Where inner pain meets self sehnsucht. Back again, just when I thought I would give Deep a rest for the sake of the genre and my followers sanity !!J I was playing around with current tunes, trying to work out how to structure, build and put together a decent Deep House set. I was looking at what worked and what didn’t in th

Though I believe Deep House is where I find the most consistent Talent and great quality tunes, being a slut for vocals and pretty tunes, I tend to shy away from publishing any Deep House mixes. Willingly or not, I always fall into the trap of including soulful tracks when I try to go deep. 2015 April Trance Mission 04 (Still with Me?)
04/04/2015 Duration: 01h43minTrance Mission Episode 4 (Still with me?) The fundamental question is: Are you Still with Me? Apologies to all but I took a little break.. A few lines to frame the context: I have had the set on my HD for now 4 months. I actually mixed it the day of the Charlie Hebdo massacre, hence the intro and then I kept it and kept it and .. kept it. I had received a few pointedly true comments relating to the previous set, which, decent as it was, did contain a few too many poppy tracks. I may ( well I did...) have overdone the Sophie Ellis Bextor segment.. What can I say, I am just a weak old middle-aged straight man.. Not an excuse, just a statement. Anyhow, I thought I would wait until Trance Mission Episode 4 was the best I could produce. Not inferring it is perfect ny now but the version I am publishing ticks all the boxes, covers all the criteria I had set for myself. It is not just Trance, but House, Chill, Progressive, Tribal, Deep and also Trance.. I

2015 Jan Trance-Mission 03 (Ride The Wave)
12/01/2015 Duration: 01h18minTrance-Mission Episode 03 (Ride the Wave) All sine waves are characterized by their frequency, amplitude and phase.. Let's alter all those parameters... Continuing my Trance-Mission. Last episode left us just “As the Rush Came”, this one is all about riding that metaphorical and physical sine wave.. Come and Ride it with Me.. Waves are all around us, light waves, sound waves, sub-atomic quantum waves and also liquid waves of course. There are no real difference in the physics of the surfing wave, the sound wave and the chemical wave, they are all encompassing.. One cannot fight the wave, one has to accept the highs, the lows, surrender to the overwhelming phenomena or emotion. Fight it and you fall into the abyss, ride it and you come back on top ready for the next one.. Although we are in Tranceland, I tried to keep it in my beloved Trouse.. If I did my selection right, at the end of this journey, you will have discovered some great tunes, be surprised by some ed

I went on to read the latest comments and saw Bobby Manson’s. Bobby has been following me for years, from the very start. It is thanks to listeners like him, who interact when they like something I have posted that I still feel the urge to try something vaguely original. I do it for myself but also because and for everyone who actively engage with my tunes. Therefore Bobby, these 3 sessions are for YOU! Happy birthday mate! (If you want higher quality enc

2014 Nov Take Me to a Higher Ground
09/11/2014 Duration: 01h18minTake Me to a Higher Ground… !!!! Warning: some expletives and drug references !!! Set could have been called “15 Shades of House” or “What is House without Big Piano Keys?” But I thought I shouldn’t pass on the opportunity to give Blonde and Grant Nelson a some exposure.. 14 good tracks … 13 from the last quarter of 2014.. Proud of that! In the past few months, I have been utterly bored with Soulful and, to a certain extent, with with any non-progressive house. "Take Me to a Higher Ground" reunites me with the genre.. What changed my mind? - Mixing it up between true soulful gems and edgier tunes with some rasp built-in gave depth and colours to my set. - Inviting House royalty to the party did help! Grant Nelson, Richard Earnshaw, Sandy Rivera, Kings of Tomorrow, Spiritchaser, Eric Kupper and Miguel Migs.. Need I say more? - Finally finding great, very recent tracks! “Higher Ground”, “N

2014 Oct Spring has Sprung (Vintage Trance for Vintage Ravers)
27/10/2014 Duration: 02h27minSpring has Sprung Pt.3 (Vintage Trance for Vintage Ravers) Third and last part.. It got a bit more interesting from there on.. A bit of context.. For a few years, our crew has been yearning for some good old uplifting Trance.. Back to the 90’s.. I was quite apprehensive about it, not being sure that we ,still, actually could handle any sustained trance. I did learn a few things whilst mixing the set and I will come back to that later, but I am happy to report that I was proven wrong., Trance can work if appropriately tailored to the crowd. Straight out of the mixer with all the imperfections of live mixing.. Be kind! It consists mainly of big anthems and/or Xtian’s Edits I have dropped before, with a couple a new mash-ups I have been working on.. Playlist: Toca’s Miracle (Tom Novy Jashari Deepdown Mix). Fragma Touch Me (Classic 2009 Mix). Tom & Jerry feat Abigail Bailey Rapture (Dance Extended Mix). ReUnited See The Sun (Aurosonic Intro Remix). M

We hosted a party to celebrate the (non) arrival of Spring in Melbourne.. After an hour of eclectic lounge and a technical issue induced interval, starting live mixing a slightly more upbeat set.. Nothing challenging! Check out Higher Ground though it is a very good funky tune.. Playlist: Reach Out for Harmony (Original Xtian Mash). Blood Groove & Kikis, Xtian, Marc Evans Higher Ground (Grant Nelson Remix). Charli Taft, Blonde Silence (Milo & Acheson Euphoric Club Mix). Shane D feat. 27/10/2014 Duration: 01h08minSpring has Sprung Pt.1 First of 3 ( Drinks and Mingle) We hosted a party to celebrate the (non) arrival of Spring in Melbourne.. To foster the Drinks and Mingle part of the event, I pre-mixed an eclectic lounge set.. Sade, Adele, Justin Timberlake and the Rolling Stones to name of few.. Not breaking any progressive barrier here.. More of a mix-tape than a live set.. Here is the playlist, no other comments really necessary.. Definitively NOT a required download but interesting twist on well-known easy listening tunes you will recognize Loungin’ Tunes Playlist: Sweetest Taboo (Palinoia Remix). 2014 Sept Trance Mission 02 (As the Rush Comes)
22/09/2014 Duration: 01h19minTrance-Mission Episode 02 … “As the Rush Comes” We left the Ambient realm, dropped and landed into Tranceland. With its highs and lows, builds and snare drums, synths and pads! I tried to put together a set, which pursue the trance flow. Do you remember the anticipation, the wait, the tingling, the heat, the chills, the sweats, the raised hair on the skin and the glow? Do you remember the RUSH? Four months of gestation and labour! Time to let this one be judged by the community. Though sloppy at times, I did the best I could.. In spite of the rather chilled first tracks, "As the Rusch Come" has a definite Trance flavour. Beats per minute do not lie, we end up at 136 bpm, it is Trance! Or, how I was recently told, “Progressive Trance”. One word on the long hiatus between uploads: after a month of blissful downtime with the family in Europe, we faced a few tumultuous events once back in Oz. I neither had the time nor the inclination to listen or mix anything. Problems got
