Synopsis

Being an adult is hard. So is being a geek. And an adult geek? Well, that's where we come in. We're Beej and Void, and we've got more than a little experience in that area. We are life-long geeks and have managed to bring our geekery with us into adulthood and still be somewhat functional adults--you know, with families and jobs and that sort of thing. We don't do toxic, and we don't do nerdrage. Our views on geekdom are positive and optimistic, and we believe that the most important part of being a geek is the people you get to geek out with.Tightly focused discussions on specific topics drive the show. Striving to illustrate that it is entirely possible to be mega-geeks and responsible adults, we want to be your friend and create and open and positive geek community for everyone. We started this podcast because we really want there to be a safe, welcoming, positive geek community for everyone. We want to talk about stuff we love, make friends, and most importantly, make sure that everyone feels appreciated and that there's a place for them. So whether your love is video games, comic books, movies, TV, fitness, computers and tech, or whatever else...come geek out with us. Let's be friends.

  • S3E31 - Nintendo 3DS Console Lookback - “An almost dead console”

    09/08/2018 Duration: 59min

Nintendo 3DS Console Lookback In this episode: This week we look back at the Nintendo 3DS console and why we love it. It's odd doing a retrospective on a game that is still technically being developed for, but it is at the end of its life cycle. That doesn't mean it's dead by any means. In fact, the Nintendo 3DS is one of the best systems we have ever owned. The games are phenomenal, and the range of titles is honestly better than any other console. We talk about the remasters and console ports. We discuss original titles and how m any of them were precursors to console titles that became some Best-in-Series (Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D Land). Weekly Geekery BJ checked out the Power Rangers movie, is rewatching the Good Place, playing World of Warcraft, and relaunching his Geek Fitness podcast! Void is working too much but still managed to wrap up playing Elder Scrolls Online, try out some shows and movies, find a new podcast about Business Wars, listen to a lot of Fall Out Boy, and has been playing Id

    02/08/2018 Duration: 54min

We talk about the recent Harry Potter's Birthday Party that Jennifer threw at the library, and how it's not as out of reach as you think to host a fan event that can draw hundreds of people. We know that a lot of you may have aspirations of hosting a con of some sort, of even just a fan event where you can get together with like-minded folks and geek out about what you love. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/geektogeekcast/support

    26/07/2018 Duration: 01h57s

Summer is awesome, but at the same time, there's a slump in a lot of the things we love. After the initial burst of movies...we are left with a drought. Video games don't get released because they're waiting for that holiday smash success. And books...well, we don't even know when books release, remember? But we talk about it all anyway and how we handle the drought. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/geektogeekcast/support

  • S3E14 - Reading State of Mind - “Sheepish Cake”

    12/04/2018 Duration: 01h00s

Reading State of Mind In this episode: We update each other on reading, audio books, when and how we’re reading, and basically everything that goes with it. While both of us are heavy readers, our patterns and habits work out really different. For instance, Void loves audiobooks and ebooks to sync so he can suit his situation, and Beej keeps his audio and written text separate.  The idea of branching out of our comfort zones comes up, with us both being engrossed in sci-fi and fantasy, but feeling the need to branch out because much of the fiction we read feels very "samey."  Non-fiction is drawing our attention, but for different reasons and with different media. We discuss tools to get through both podcasts and audiobooks faster, and what the most comforting parts of being a reader are to us. In general, we just discuss our love of books and reading and why we are where we are. We think you guys will be able to join in on this, too, because that's a big part of our community. Weekly Geekery Beej is still

Void almost got a pacifist win in Fortnite, finished Altered Carbon, rewatched The Last Jedi while reading the novelization, started Persona 3 the animation, and is completely hooked on reading The Big Picture: The Fight for the Future of Movies.  Oh, also, Stardew Valley is back in the mix somehow? • S3E12 - Dumb Movies - “Bad and Glorious”

    29/03/2018 Duration: 50min

We talk about movies that are dumb but kind of glorious because of it.  You know, movies where you can shut off your brain, but still enjoy them! We talk about some of our favorites including The Fifth Element, The Fast and the Furious, and the even sillier stuff like 21 Jump Street and the new Jumanji. We've talked before about movies being successful despite not being great cinema, and that's what these are. Meant to be silly, and we love that about them. That's why we watch them dozens of times. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/geektogeekcast/support
